How big of an issue is this actually? How has it directly affected you? Do you believe that all female sports will be completely taken over by this? It's part of the silly culture war that we rage daily.
Great how everyone uses the extreme to prove their point. Anyone who has ever been around male athletics knows how cruel they can be. Lot of good people out there just trying to make it through life.
Ours starts next week. Will be oldest DD's senior season. Younger is a sophomore and playing on varsity this year. Been waiting a while for this year to see them play together. Their coach is pretty bad though. They'll do fine as older DD is the pitcher even though she's a CF in club. They go to...
To be honest i'd shoot somewhere down the middle. You don't learn a ton or improve a ton on the bench. If the other org has a great training program that is one thing, but if not, can buy a bunch of plastic trophies for about $20.00.
edit: and about the D1 thing, it's pretty over rated outside...
First thing that should be taken into consideration is your DD's major. Softball is a silly game that comes to an end for 99.999% of all players at the end of college.
It's funny my DD works hard and can put the ball where ever. When ever they shift against her like that she will pull the ball. Couple of inside the parks this way but usually a standup triple.
My DD is a slapper, and when i see 3rd base move in, i have to look away. She can put the ball over the fence slapping. She's blown up a couple of kids over the years thinking they were going to get a dinky poke dropped in front of them.
I've always found it ironic that with all the training my DD has done for softball over the years that you go to a tourny and their sampling is hamburgers, hot dogs, and cheese fries. Oh and one bruised apple in the corner.
edit: DD is a vegetarian so always bring our own food.
It's tough, but shouldn't sweat it. My DD is a slapper, which a good portion of that style is to make the opposing team have to play a tough bounce. When not trying to lift it to the outfield she is aiming 3' in front of the player she is targeting. She has more ROE than the rest of the team by...
Anyone that can help is a bonus. But as said before it's the parents and the athlete that will really be the determining factor in the long run. Do not rely on other people though, i've found that adults are very disappointing a lot of the time.
My DD had D1 offers but SHE decided she wanted to go to a D3 school to play. She didn't want her college life to be about softball. She found a school that she really loves and has a great track record with job placement in the field she wants to study after graduation. Lucky for me she is a...
Should do what makes your DD happy. One thing i'll stress though is you are not going to find many club teams that will let a starting pitcher also play SS. Especially not for a more competitive team. End of the day it's your dollar, spend it how you will.
Which is your choice, play who you want to play. Thing i hear most from coaches over the years is they want athletes. Not a lot of "fair" in the world so doesn't really factor into the equation for me.
Should play them for their output during games. Not time spent at practice.
edit: and to...
It's up to the coach. My DD misses half the practices and has missed a couple games. She discussed with the coach prior to the start of the season. Hasn't affected her playing time. Not like she's missing games to go to the mall.
It's good. My DD committed last year and has been playing free and easy since. About to do the official application now. All the 24s on the team are committed and they for sure play looser.
Whole thing is a joke and no need to care about it. Girl from our club was ranked in the 50's one year. She wasn't even in the top 5 at the position in our club at her age group, never mind the country.
And i'd set some money on outside of the top 30 club teams in the country, 40-60% of the kids on the national teams go to those schools or mid to lower D1 schools that could have been achieved anyway without spending a ton of money.
And not saying people shouldn't play on national. To each...
