Kemp high level pattern? I've got Kemp in the Harper mold of out athletic-ing the game. Now, harper seems to have made some changes but the only clip I have from spring training is not a good angle...so I'm going to reserve judgement on that. Simply catching the ball....
Sometimes kids get really antsy with their feet and jump at the ball or lunge towards it. This may be a problem as you said your daughter has trouble waiting for the ball. Turning the barrel?
I like to think about turning the barrel as getting the bat IN THE WAY of the ball instead of driving the knob/barrel AT the ball. It's a core driven swing instead of a hands and arms driven move. I agree with David Carter, you must make sure they understand the words first. Hitting has it's own dialects for sure, so some girls will associate different words with different actions.
