I agree wholeheartedly with the other comments about the reasons your daughter should pick a college.
Regarding pitching and height - last year we went and watched the University of the Pacific play Long Beach State, both small schools but I think this still emphasizes the point. The Long...
My family has just gone through a similar situation. Both of my daughters played this last TB season 16u nationals in TN. They both decided this was going to be their last hurrah and decided against playing for the high school coach. The team has done quite well winning their division the last...
Hmm.. Never said we didn't go after the batters. Quite the opposite actually. Just wanted to get the groups thoughts on this tactic as a way to set the tone of the at bat.
Not sure I'd consider it a bush league tactic but I guess we all have our opinions.
Yeah they do have good control but nobody is perfect.
Should have clarified a bit more in my original post also - This wasn't something we did every inning or even every game. Really depended on the team we were facing, situation, batter, etc... I might not have done this against a weaker...
I'd love to get the groups thoughts on this.
My last pitching rotation (3 girls) pitched in the 54-58 speed range. We weren't an over powering group but all had great control. Something I often did was call an intentional wild pitch. My pitcher would throw a fast ball high and away, sometimes...
My daughter is playing 16u's and consistently hits 56/57 but has tons of movement. By no means is she the fastest pitcher most hitters will see but come game time she very rarely throws a fastball anyway. It's all about movement, keeping them off balance and hitting her spots.
Absolutely right. As long as the bat just "feels right" there are generally comfortable with it. By the way, we're going to keep the CF3 just in case...
Thanks!
I could be wrong but I don't think that's the situation. She's been going to the same hitting instructor for the last 2 years and has steadily increased in power. I think he just wants a little more pop.
For the last couple of years, we shut it down the week before Thanksgiving and don't start back at it until January. By the time we get back at it they are ready to go.
GM - totally agree with this. My daughter threw her first no hitter this past weekend. She struck out 11 and walked 2. I asked her after the game what she felt was different about this game and she said "I threw a lot of strikes and just wanted to get everyone out". She's been pitching for about...
