So many parents overestimate their kids skill level it’s not even funny.

There is a sweet lady who is the mom of a senior of my DD’s HS alma mater. I still shoot pictures for them so I am at a lot of games. She mentioned to me that “She had no idea” why her daughter doesn’t play very often. I’m guessing her .109 career BA and the fact that balls tend to pop out of her glove on routine plays a 1B might have something to do with it.

There are lots of good High School coaches and many bad travel ball players. I think any new freshman should expect to pay their dues for a little while....the first game is definitely reasonable. As long as the coach doesn't play seniors for the whole season just because they are seniors they shouldn't complain.

I would always tell seniors that I was not going to play them just because they were seniors. They had to win the job and they were going to be given the chance to do just that. I always finished by saying “The job won’t be just handed to you However, the fact that your a senior means I am really rooting for you to win it”.

so far I have coached varsity football, varsity wrestling, middle school track, middle school cross country (multiple conference championships in both), travel softball (6 state titles, 6 of my core group headed to play in college, middle school softball (two conference titles), and HS softball (state title last year)
I guess we need to start a "shameless brag forum" for coaches.

Earlier this year I was told how she went there and bad mouthed the coach to other players they relayed that info to coach and this player never made it through fall season. She now a proud student at our local state college.
Geez...is that the best you can do?

How about this one: Batter hits a rope that bounces off the middle of the right field fence. Parent blames the coach' because the RF would have caught if she had been taught a drop step.

I must admit that some statements were said in jest as I am not a physical education teacher but I am a teacher of special needs students. I also know you should not use the word ALL but there are post on here that show a bias towards ALL HS coaches and ALL parents and so on and so on.

Just had read enough from one poster that is obviously anti HS coaches and their abilities. So to avoid pointing that person our I started a new post with one of my experiences.

That sounds like a pitchers parent that was upset their pitching stats were getting worse. Parents are the hardest part about coaching, I can handle just about any kid.
