Anyone mention System of a Down, Disturbed, or Jane's Addiction?
I saw Porno for Pyros once at Bogarts in Cincinnati. Its a small bar the hold maybe 200 people.

Funny part was the very day of the concert, Porno for Pyros (PfP) went public that guitar player Peter DiStefano had cancer. Unfazed, PfP was still going on with the concert so we made the trip. Low and behold, PfP replaced DiStefano with Dave freakin' Navarro for the show! Came expecting a PfP show and it turned out to be a Jane's Addiction show!

For the uncultured, when Dave Navarro left Jane's Addiction for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's picked up DiStefano and changed their name to PfP.

Another Rush favorite, Power Windows, I was completely taken with the Manhattan Project! Having done a big end of the year assignment in the 11th grade on the end of WWII, and how both atomic bombs actually saved countless lives, possibly millions by ending the war. My Dad served in Korea, and he would have been 15 at the end of WWII, so the dropping of the bombs would be something he would remember vividly for the rest of his life! I remember playing that song for him and when the line about the Enola Gay came up.....of course he had an Enola Gay story to tell me!

A few years back, I went through the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum (the big one out by Dulles airport, not the little one on the DC Mall). "Manhattan Project" loops through my head as I stand in awe of the actual Enola Gay. Moments before, walking around up close to space shuttle Discovery I had "Countdown" running through my head. As a youth of the 80's, the awesomeness of it with the re-awakening of great memories can bring a guy to tears.

The really small places where I saw some awesome shows.....

Saw Blues Traveler at the Charlotte Hornets training facility in Fort Mill, SC. It's basically a gymnasium. Wild show, wild crowd, wild night!

Saw Natalie Merchant at the Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, OMG this woman can sing, and perform for her crowd, and so easy to look at!!

Saw Collective Soul at the House of Blues in North Myrtle.....heard it was a fantastic show!

Saw Tim Reynolds play for maybe an hour at the Double Door Inn after a Dave Matthews show in Charlotte, guitar wizard, beyond impressive!

Best show for me was Dropkick Murphys at the House of blues in Atlantic City. A bad opening band(ska type) turned the place into a powder keg. Was awesome...
