Yes he did get the barrel behind the ball in space, but i would ask you how did he get it there? Did it get there as a byproduct of something else, or did he have a conscious effort to get it there?

Let me guess @TDS. To you, the second clip still shows the hitter's barrel above his rear shoulder. The thing that I see that is pointing towards the catcher is not actually the bat. Is that correct?

My contention is that the barrel is launched in an arc that travels around and under the rear shoulder. The hand path is typically direct to a location, while the barrel travels in an arc.

Pre-launch style... Bo has a great deal of barrel movement. More than I would recommend, but some hitters are comfortable with it.
