Related to this, we might be looking to transfer somewhere that has in-school classes AND fall HS softball in a month. Any recommendations?

Different counties in Georgia will have in-school classes. Gwinnett, Cherokee, Carrollton, among them. The only problem is a lot of schools have already had tryouts. Don't know how difficult it would be to join a team late. Never done that but probably depends on the school. Some don't have a big pool of players to work with while others have too many players.

And FYI..teachers are getting furloughed and let go and placed elsewhere. I myself have no idea if I will have my job yet. 21 yrs at the same school but with all that is going on and multi-million dollar cuts to educational budgets all bets are off right now.

Where are these school making multi-million dollar cuts? Just curious.

When do games start?

Dd #1 is a 2020 college grad that is going to be a first year teacher this fall. When she was student teaching at an elementary school she was here at home so I got a front row seat to what she was doing. The amount of time she spent doing lesson plans, phone calls to parents and working on packets was amazing. They did zoom staff meetings that I listened to- the challenges they face and the professionalism they showed was plain for me to see.

She is now fund raising to get the things she needs to teach at a public school. It is ridiculous that they don’t have budget to do education right. She has spent her whole summer doing lesson plans. I have a buddy that is always flapping his yap about how easy teachers have it. His opinion is just plain based on ignorance.

All of us with kids have had a teacher working with our kids that don’t exactly go hard in the paint or make decisions and moves that defy logic. Look around at your workplace and you will see the same. That being said, this is not an easy job.

DD has coached with me this summer. Due to her softball injury she doesn’t think she can coach travel ball, the weekends are too long- she has to work out to minimize pain, (did it between pool games last weekend) but you can’t always do it. She wants to coach hs now. Yet she does not feel like she can do it the first year. She thinks she will be too busy with lesson plans etc, and that was before she found out how much additional work she will have to do for remote learning.

For every open job available there is a person ready/wanting/needing to work.
