Yes; although people are already interpreting the rules however they want. Letting teams practice as a team starting this week seems like a very loose interpretation of what is in Phase 1 already even with the stipulations they have sent out.

Unless they are told specifically they can't,I expect they will proceed.
I thought phase 1 included a limit of 10 people gathering. In any event, I doubt any fields owned by a governmental entity will host a tournament until specific direction is provided by DeSantis.

Yeah, well 10 people in a group., so how is that defined?. Well if they are on opposite sides of a field or in stations of 3-4 players... or you spread a practicing team across two dugouts or you ban spectator/parents totally and so on, can you technically say you met criteria?

There are several non-govt owned fields around Orlando and a few counties in Central/Northern Florida that have few enough cases that they believe they are fine where they are, so I expect they are going to go ahead if DeSantis doesn't specifically say no. Tey will interpret how they want so they feel in their mind they comply..

Around here (OK) they are saying (at least some parks) that the groups of 50 or more rule apply to each field in a complex..e.g. if there are 10 fields you could in theory have 500 people at the complex and that would still be within the rules....

That seems to be the main problem; it is not "play at your own risk" it is "play at someone else's risk". If I was just taking the risk for myself, fine, that is a decision I can make for me. But if it turned out I was asymptomatic or just was mildly ill but someone else got seriously ill because of me or even just possibly because of me, I am not sure how I would live with that.

As a tournament director, you have to trust a whole tournament worth of families to not bring along someone who is sick or mildly ill or to follow all the procedures. If you put on a tournament and it ends up being the center of a source of infection; are you going to be OK with that (not even thinking about the legal implications)? Tough call - or at least it should be a tough call.

They opened the passive parks in Florida last Wednesday evening; and while 90% of the people out there behaved themselves within the limits they were asked to, 10% didn't. That is about what I expected.
I get it guys.

Exactly! Now what? I am just saying it is going to be impossible to police. Cancel softball (sports) until everyone is vaccinated?

Wait because RI is canceling tournaments all those other states will?
Can you post a link that supports that the other states will follow the lead of Rhode island?

I don't have a link to Gov. Baker's press conference when he announced forming the compact with the other states, but I did listen to it while I was driving. One of the points he made was that the states don't want to re-open activities that the other states weren't ready to do yet, to discourage interstate travel. Makes sense.

Will the other six states also cancel youth tourneys? Who knows? Given statements I've heard both the MA and CT Governors make, I think those two states will. MA hit 66,000 cases yesterday; CT around 29,000;
NY 300,000+; PA around 46,000. Don't see those states signing off on large gatherings anytime soon. Be shocked if the Polar Crush showcase in MA or Pennsbury showcase in PA happen, although Pennsbury moved their dates to August.

My hunch is that while teenagers have low chances of serious injury from covid-19, they can carry it and the northeast governments will want to limit the spread over the summer.

Reading disgruntled guideline rumblings....
Well...people always have an opinion.
Like this, not that...yadda yadda silly or not.
Looks like this is a new rash to scratch for several. While others focus on planning.

The reality is
Softball guidelines will be
comply or dont play.

If the bathroom is an issue.
Bring appropriate things.
Even your own toilet.
Concession stand concerning, bring your own food.
Complaining....will be beyond the outfield fence.
Or it can be a great place to enjoy watching the game!

When my lessons start again
YES there will be new guidelines. HAPPY to say every family and student is on board!

Informative and makes sense.

I know some of the Midwest governors formed the same type of “alliance”. However, it seems to be more for show than anything, because the states seem to be all over the place in their reopening.
