Still waiting for anybody to answer my question. How can the authorities decide to allow thousands of people a day to roam a grocery store or big box home improvement store daily but the sporting goods(any small retailer) store that has maybe 100 shoppers a day must be closed? If the goal is to slow the spread this is illogical.

No idea but I am sure you can find a conspiracy or 10 somewhere online which you can take and run with...

So the tiny droplets don't escape the sides of a regular face mask? Especially after the front of the mask has been saturated with hot moist breath? The masks aren't 100% the masks aren't 50%. The masks are placebo.

This requires more of that Science stuff that you guys don't believe in.... but here it goes...

Respiratory virus shedding in exhaled breath and efficacy of face (surgical) masks

"We detected coronavirus in respiratory droplets and aerosols in 3 of 10 (30%) and 4 of 10 (40%) of the samples collected without face masks, respectively, but did not detect any virus in respiratory droplets or aerosols collected from participants wearing face masks, this difference was significant in aerosols and showed a trend toward reduced detection in respiratory droplets (Table 1b). For influenza virus, we detected virus in 6 of 23 (26%) and 8 of 23 (35%) of the respiratory droplet and aerosol samples collected without face masks, respectively. There was a significant reduction by wearing face masks to 1 of 27 (4%)"

Seriously, you and others are smart guys, tell me how it makes any sense. Doesn't it make you question their authority a little.
Grocery stores I can see..people need to eat. Home Depot and the such is a stretch but I hate doing crap around the house anyway...

Ca. Governor or Los Angeles Mayor keeps reminding everyone to NOT buy a N95 mask. Saying those should be for people on the front line. & weaken immunity.

Some counties mandatory masks.
Some counties not.
Cloth mask for some. N95 for others.

Soooo hmmmm?

Do not question your leader. He knows what he wants.

Right Here For Now
Sad to say, but here are the facts. Covid-19 is an airborne pathogen. It can spread just by breathing if someone is infected. Cloth and surgical masks are for diseases that pass by direct contact through aerosolized particles i.e. coughing or sneezing. They will do very little to stop the spread of an airborne contagion. Recent studies have even shown that Covid-19 may also spread by passing gas. Other recent studies have suggested that even wearing a cloth or surgical mask, the virus can spread and travel up to 30 feet. There was a television news story on this Sunday morning on one of the networks but it only made it through one news cycle, early in the morning, then disappeared. I wonder why [sarcasm] The only effective mask to stop any airborne pathogen is a non-valved N-95 mask. It also has to be fitted properly and airtight to be 100% effective. Yes, there are procedures/tests that you have to go through in order to make sure they are airtight. If you have a beard, your screwed because it just won't happen...no way, no how,

Conjecture: The Medical Professionals that are advising our politicians already know these facts and have apprised the politicians about them. However, for the politicians, it's all about optics.

They feel like they have to look like they're doing something and in doing so, the general population will feel like they are doing their part in mitigating the spread of this virus as well as feel safer around others. In reality, it will do little to nothing. But as someone posted before, perception seems to be the new reality. I guess if we all feel safe and that we're doing our part, it will come to fruition and this virus will magically disappear.

And no, I'm not taking one side over the other. I'm just stating that wishing doesn't make it so.

Because people need food? I know they have strict rules at the grocery store that i go to. Only a certain amount of people are allowed in, can't be within 6' of people on line, have to have a mask. Can't speak to ALL large stores but that's what i see around me.
