Sure, we have one for the flu. I don't know about you but I would rather not get sick regardless if my chances of dying are low or not.

Is this something new that Fox News is pushing, no need for a vaccine now?
Sure we have one for the flu. What is the flu vaccine success rate?

Fox news? When did they infiltrate Stanford and UCLA?

Are you one of those 'home arrest for everyone until we have a vaccine' paranoids? Bill Gates said it could be a year or more until the 7 companies he invested in make the vaccine. Bill gates also said the next big outbreak will be from bioterrorism. Got that from Colbert.

Point me to the articles by the Stanford and UCLA scientists. No I am not one of those saying we need to stay at home till a vaccine is found but saying that getting one won't be helpful is just silly imo. That said, if you can give me scientifically valid reasons, backed up by data, why this is so I am willing to change my views.

Would a vaccine equal to the flu vaccine be sufficient.

What percentage of Americans even bother getting the flu vaccine? The answer is approx 50%. How many people would get the Covid vaccine?

My family gets the flu and would get the Covid one too.

A covid vaccine would sell like hot cakes. Huge demand, reason enough to make one. Locking down the country until we have one is foolish. Individuals can decide what personal protection equipment they need or want.

Chirona virus has been in America since at least November. My Aunts parents came to SF in November. During the visit the entire family, ages 75 to 3, was diagnosed with viral pneumonia. Aunt's brother lives in..... you guessed it, Wuhan.

Sounds like we agree. Make america open again.

So a vaccine that doesn't work for half the people that get it would make everyone feel safe enough to leave their homes? That's ridiculous.

Just to give a little more perspective. Everyone seems to think it's a binary choice - you die from it or you don't. And if your odds of dying are extremely low because you are young, healthy and in good shape then who cares if you get it or not? You'll survive.

This story is from one of my former players. She just turned 28 and is a marathon runner, so definitely young and presumably healthy. She also happens to work for Epic, the largest vendor of electronic health records in the U.S., so she presumably has some knowledge of the healthcare industry. It's a little more food for thought, especially if you think it can't happen to you.

"Cheers to 28! Not exactly the birthday I expected to have, but this year I’m most grateful for my health and the health of those around me. For the past two weeks I’ve been fighting with COVID and am happy to say I’m doing a lot better. It was not an easy or fun journey though, even with a relatively mild case. Five days of intense fever and chills, loss of taste and smell, and a super dry and non-stop cough. After the fever came days of chest pain and exhaustion. Even two weeks later mostly recovered, I’m still struggling with my lung capacity. I’ve tried mild exercising and can barely get through it without feeling lightheaded and out of breath. It will be a few weeks before I’m back to normal still. TLDR - COVID kicked my rear. Hard.

"I’m not writing this for sympathy - I’m writing this to implore everyone to take this pandemic seriously. I don’t know where I got COVID - my best guess is from the grocery store since that’s the only place I’ve really been since the quarantine. And that’s the scariest part, not knowing where it came from. This is not just the flu or a bad cold. Trust me.

"I’m incredibly blessed to have an amazing family who picked up every tearful call and overnighted masks to me to keep others safe, awesome friends who checked up on me daily, a job that allowed so much flexibility as I fought this, and an amazing husband who took great care of me and slept on the couch for 10 days to try to flatten the curve in our own house.

"Don’t take things for granted. Stay home. Wear masks when you do need to take essential trips. Wash your hands. Call your loved ones. Check in on your friends and family. Flatten the curve. I love you all and I can’t wait until this is over to give you all hugs. Until then, stay healthy, stay safe, and gimme a call if you want to cheers virtually

My family doesn't get the flu shot. A couple years ago someone I know was blinded by the flu shot for 6 weeks, and has severe migraines still to this day. Her vision has returned to a degree, but she will never be able to drive again. The Dr. said, "yeah, that happens sometimes." I'm no anti-vaxxer, but I'm not getting vaccinated for viruses that mutate and change from year to year. Mumps, Measles, Polio, chicken pox, hpv, etc. I'm on board. Seasonal stuff, and viruses that are expected to mutate from one outbreak to the next? Hard pass.

How do you know the flu vaccine didn’t work in some way? It might not have prevented someone from getting ill but it likely did help make the symptoms less severe and allowed their body a better chance of fighting the virus faster. Assuming it does nothing because people still get sick is not correct.

My kids got sick with the flu 3 years ago and it affected my oldest very hard where he was out of school for over a week. We had not gotten a flu shot that year. The next winter we did get the shot and my 2 healthier kids didn’t get the flu at all and my oldest only had a very mild case where he had a fever for 1 day vs the 6 continuous days the previous season.

We will be getting the Covid vaccine. Nobody should want to be sick for 2 weeks......
