So do you have a default timing window or just wing it? Most players time off the fastest pitch and adjust.
Time what? Most players time their swing launch based upon what pitch they see coming..no? Slight adjustments are made thereafter. The start of the move out is timed for whatever pitch they are expecting.

If players timed their swing launch to the fastball, every swing on balls which are not fastballs would look like that Manny Ramirez clip from the Dodgers where he is badly fooled but still hits a HR (I think)

I think mostly it’s time for the fastest pitch and adjust. You don’t have time to wait til it’s outta the hand

I modified my statement to include that the start of the move out is timed for the fastball (or whatever pitch they are expecting). Obviously you cannot wait to do this until pitch recognition. The actual start of the bat moving (or however most people define launch) is based upon the small amount of time they have to read the pitch (the more the better..)

Sorry P. ‘Time’ was meant as a verb, not a noun in that sentence.

No I understood. IMO, they time their move out to whatever pitch they are expecting and then launch based upon pitch recognition. You have that Amanda Lorenz clip handy?

FYI, imo, when you said time to contact is the most important thing you were mostly correct and it goes hand in hand with what I am saying here assuming we are talking about the same measurement...

WW's daughter has a good sequence (balanced fyb).. She moves out fastball and due to a balanced sequence she's gives up nothing in regards to power on the off-speed..

Hitters who get into a dynamic leveraged fyb hitting position is paramount to the sequence.

Can’t get it to load. When ‘we’ don’t have a good idea about the pitchers tendencies. Our default is look ‘time for fastest pitch and adjust’. Can’t get back time, but we can delay time for a bit.
