My DDs 1961 is also 2 years old, and looks identical to that one. I had Rous install a thumb stay that was about 1" longer than the one that was in there, which really stiffened up the thumb.
Also, when you re-lace the glove, run the mid-finger lacing all the way to the web side of the index finger, using the holes for the middle bar of the web. It will hold the fingers together better.
