Correct. Wilson Sports treated a well-respected long-standing member of this forum badly, purely for reasons of profit. This action severely damaged a small business, and lost a very good representative for their products. There are many DFP members who have taken offense to Wilson's actions in this matter, and refuse to purchase their bats as a result.

I get it, don’t agree with their actions. I know another rep who was hurt by their policies.

It doesn’t mean every bat they put out is garbage. Decisions made by execs and bean-counters don’t always work out well for the working Joe and Jane. Been there done that myself.

But there is almost a comical bias against anything under the Wilson umbrella.

Nobody said the bat was garbage...I don't even read that anywhere. Just because people choose not to buy something, its ok.
Their continuing pattern of greed causes actions against them...they are big boys, they can handle any backlash from us lowly regular people.
If you are fine with what they do that's ok as well.

All I said, and my main point was the hell and fury Easton got for an ASA only bat, and almost NOTHING when Demarini does it. Plain and simple. Bat may well be good, no
idea. Log on demarini.com and give them 400 bucks and find out. Im sure there are many that will, and then sit around and wonder why they charge
the prices they do for bats. Why...because they can.

Secondly...a rep is not a business owner. Btw, did you run out and buy their products after the large corp screwed you over? I mean, since you been there, done that :)

I have never said all Demarini bats were garbage. My DD loved her CF8 until the Ghost stole her heart. Despite the poor reviews of the CFX, I completely expect that they will produce other bats that perform very well. That said, as it stands right now, I will not spend my money on Wilson bat products because of their business practices. There are others who feel the same way.

And yes, I am still honest. Never said a bat was trash that wasn't. The CFX and PXT...trash...haha. Like Eric said,
I am sure they will come back and make good bats. This may be one, no idea.

I'm supposed to have one in my hands to test in a couple of weeks. I'm waiting on a few demos to be returned to Wilson, then I'll get my hands on it. I'm in no rush. My guess is it will be like all the others...... Nothing will change, nothing will be hotter INCLUDING the Ghost. Meh. Easton did a nice job leaving their fastpitch past behind, but the Ghost is far from the holy grail. Liability and sanction requirements put the clamps on "HOT" bats. They rely on HOT marketing and shills to elevate sales. Just a fact

Wilson dropped Core and many many others for selling below what they considered a reasonable margin. When Dicks, Academy, Amazon....... sells tens of millions of dollars in bats, they don't want smaller dealers undercutting them or selling below MAP (when applicable) . Easton will follow suit once their popularity comes up and big stores start to carry them. They do well in baseball, but are behind in other sports.

In other words...Wilson helped their big dealers - who only sell at full retail price - ensure that they can keep squeezing every last dollar they can out of the customers by eliminating smaller guys who not only help their customers by offering better pricing, but also provide superior product knowledge and customer service.

I do agree with you, there is a limit as to where bats can go at this point.

In all fairness you didn't say that when the Ghost came out. You're saying it now that the Prism is on the block

Correct. I'm coming from a small business point of view as well. It's not great, but it's what they do. You would do the same. They're protecting their market. A little known secret is that all of the big box stores operate like consignment stores. They set their terms at 120+days with a 100% buy back, so manufacturers are at their mercy to a certain extent. If you sell sporting goods you better be in the big guys or run mighty mighty lean.

As far as customer service goes LS, Demarini, and Wilson have given me zero issues the few times I've used it. The big box stores will not offer over the counter returns. Not sure if Core does

In all fairness, you are trying to twist what I said. I do think the Ghost is a better bat then what was out. That's why I said NOW there isn't much room to wiggle.

As I have said before, can the Prism be as good, absolutely. Can it be better...not sure.

Thank you for confirming that it's a control tactic based on greed. I was not aware of the 100% buy-back policy. This explains why Wilson is motivated to crush out a smaller vendor to benefit the big guys. Understanding doesn't make me like them any more.

I'm not talking about the manufacturer's customer service. I'm talking about buying from a retailer who understands the importance of getting the right product into the hands of his customer, not just the most expensive one. It takes an understanding of the product and the sport. I can't tell you how many times my DD and I have witnessed the floor sales people at our local big-box sporting goods retailer give absolutely terrible advice to customers who don't know any better. "Advice" on some of the larger online retailers isn't much better. Put the wrong size bat into the hands of a young kid, and it affects their ability to be successful, possibly even ruining their desire to continue playing.
