W=w, where do you consider or say the swing is launched from? Is it while the bat is still up behind the hitter's head, or sometime after bat lag? Serious question, as I heard both being used from different people.

Swing Launch vs. Barrel Launch. Some models only care about one. Some models use both...

Really? Ok. I'll get around to finding it eventually. Yawn...

This may be the post that you are misrepresenting .....

Work=wins, do me a favor and review the initial post in this thread. Listen to Bond's top three cues. Then review the video below which is what you state you recommend.

This is complete nonsense. You simply don't have this sort of 'space' to establish direction. Really understand what Bonds meant by his #2 objective ... to be 'short'.

Just like 1CAs model. Swing launch is from the top. Barrel launch is the release . 2 phases in my mind. The demo of Albert showed swing launch as he pumped it a few times. Then released the barrel , barrel launch. Point of no return would be when the barrel is launched...That's how I teach it.

So Cal
Never said pushing anything. When 'force' or direction is applied you get a loaded barrel. You get whip.Thats where the power comes from. That's why they measure bat speed. Not shoulder press. This is why guys like altuve and cutch and Williams can hit bombs. It's not about the shoulders. It's about the whip. And you get the whip by using your hands to whip the barrel among other things , IMO. Like I said the pros talk about their hands. Donaldson does use his hands in his swing. Even though he said he doesn't . Point taken? He doesn't hit every pitch without his hand action. Does he? He tries to minimize his hand usage. But he uses them. He stated that he is a guess hitter to an extent. Maybe that is why he became great? Maybe not? Something to think about? Once De rosa knew he tries not to use his hands , he commented that he's a guess hitter. Which states to me there isn't much adjustability in his swing.. he relies on patterns and tendencies. Not his swing...hmmm?

As far as the back shoulder goes. It's a nice cue for a hitter that doesn't use their shoulders( never ran into a kid that didn't want to rotate the shoulders.)
If you lower half is loaded before foot down, this will transfer into the upper body and the shoulders are an after thought. The shoulders will rotate as needed which is dictated by hand path/pitch location.

The Pujols demo you're advocating is pushing the knob across the chest, moving the bat down the length of it's axis, disconnecting from the kinetic chain that provides the power for the whip. Hand action - acting perpendicular to the bat's axis - moves the barrel while maintaining connection.

I've met LOTS of kids that don't want to turn their shoulders - disconnected, arm-powered swings.

I'm advocating the hand path and the loaded barrel. Do you not see the loaded barrel via radial deviation? That's what I believe in.

So do you teach a 'no hands' approach like Donaldson said? Serious question.

Yes. Thank you. I wasn't lying. Did I misinterpret your statement? Thought your position was pretty blunt in that post.

Your response to this ....

.... was this .....

Ooooh. You showed me. Thanks again. You looked silly earlier, when you said direction wasn't found in the pujols demo. Then you admitted that he showed direction , which is SO IMPORTANT. So now you have to get me. Ok. You got me. Feel better? Do you have a good demo?

Stupid? Lying? Misrepresentation? Take your pick.

Hmm, OK...sounds kind of confusing to me, or at least redefining long standing terms ("barrel release" to "barrel launch") to fit into a theory vs the theory fitting into already well established common terminology that everyone's used for decades now.

So with the new definitions, Puig never "launched" this barrel....

...it just did it on its own?

Do you consider the handle that remains in Puig's hands to be launched?
