Did my DD catcher make the wrong play?

If C has to wait for SS to get to the base before making the throw, they're giving up free bases. If I'm the opposing coach, I'm going to take advantage of it. All day long.

Catchers should be on automatic throw as soon as they possibly can in that situation. It's SS's job to get there. If SS isn't getting there in time to catch the throw, I'm either chewing on the SS or finding someone else to do the job.

If, for some reason, the coach wants C to hold the ball, it needs to be communicated.

We had a miscommunication between 2b and SS where SS heard the coach but 2b didn’t. And Coach wanted 2b to cover. DD made the throw with no one there :/. Luckily CF was backing it up so the runner only got 2nd but it was annoying.

Where catcher was at fault is allowing the runner to get on base. If she was setting up correctly or framing properly the pitcher could have struck the her out before she ever got on first.

I am trying to understand if this comment is supposed to be humorous/sarcastic or something else.

If P could actually throw some strikes, it would go a long way towards getting that strikeout. C's job is to keep strikes looking like strikes, not be a damn magician. ;) :p :)

When DD first tried catching back in 10U, she had no idea what framing was. Now it's funny how they try to frame even really bad pitches - it just becomes instinct now. We have one C who does it so much but it's slowing her down for steals :/

There is a point where they need to learn to let balls be balls.

This is not a recommended approach...

Yes, it was sarcasm all the way. I guess since plenty of pitchers parents actually say and believe that I should have clarified. If nothing else take comfort in knowing a few of us nut jobs that do value your catcher daughters and understand that without them our pitchers are nothing.
