DDs first time throwing at 40 feet. She didn't struggle with distance and accuracy was OK for now. Last time I posted video of her, 1 of the commenters was brutal and that's OK. Coaches need a kick in the butt from time to time, too.
thanks!

Continue working on posture into and through release. Her current posture will lead to control issues and eventually you will find she can only do two things with any consistency: Throw a meatball or hit the backstop.

She is still very young, so I am not going to critic her mechanics, but find a good pitching coach you trust. Once thing to correct now is she cannot bring the ball and glove back together after she separates her hands. I would also work to shorten her wind up a little - those exaggerated motions take a toll if your DD ever gets into a situation where she is throwing 200+ pitches in a day.

Keep after it. It takes alot of work, especially for dad's or mom's learning as they go. I wish I had a video of dd when she started. I see alot of the same issues your facing. Winter is a great time to work on mechanics., so make sure your working through the early part of the IR sticky. Work on throwing with IR, not pitching, just throwing like most do overhanded, make her do underhanded, with good IR and posture. Not bent over, stand up straight and whip the ball. Watch every minute of ALL these videos!! Share another video in a few weeks, in better light 😀

I agree with TNeeld....get her posture fixed. I got my daughters posture fixed in one session...I got her to brush (brush interference) and presto...much more upright posture. If you haven't read the sticky on brush interference then you're missing out...I believe its the most important thread on this site.

Yep, thank you all. I saw the posture issue, too. I think it's tied in with the shoulder movement. I believe that she believes that she is more accurate throwing like this, which she is. Of course, "more" is a relative concept and I think posture improvement will show her there are even more rewards waiting.

Some very good information here. May help to get you going in a more "upright" direction. Wouldn't worry so much about the accuracy while your working through mechanical issues. Sometimes just throwing into a net does wonders.

Thanks, shaker. This whole pitching thing has been an incredible learning experience for both of us. Lots of forward and backward steps but DD is becoming a better pitcher, slooowly but surely, and I am becoming a better coach. We've worked for a week on posture and will continue, while going on to the next of the vids you posted. I just read the HS coach post before I read yours. I know good coaches, both TB and HS, who were lousy people. And I know good people who weren't very good coaches. To me, it's all based on continuing education. A good coach is always learning. A bad coach already knows everything that's worth knowing.
