They didn't do compression testing for 10u at PCB just visual inspections.

Yeah well, I was watching my niece play 12U there and their "visual" inspection was pretty crappy... I saw two CF8's that the umps were going to "allow" that were missing the end caps... It was also very hit and miss on the strike zones (I know common) but I swear those umps had never seen a girl that was able to spin the ball...

Didn't seem like a terrible run tournament and it has been years since I had experience with USFA but as a spectator, it seemed that the quality of play and officiating has taken a serious nose dive... Of course, they advertise it as a "playcation"...

I've seen my DD get frustrated with a strike zone before, but this was the first time I've ever seen her really rattled by it. We played one game where the strike zone was a mystery. And he was very inconsistent about calling the same zone for both teams. Her specialty is hitting the outside corner and he was giving her nothing. She was also hot and started to get a headache (probably as much from stress as heat) and actually asked to sit an inning. I think she's asked to sit one other time ever in all of softball, and she'd taken a line drive to the shin at pitcher. She was thoroughly fed up, and if you knew her you'd know what a major thing that is. It's pretty tough to get her there.

There were a few other issues with bad calls (on our team and others) and losing track of the count, which always baffles me. How do they manage that? Anyway. Overall I don't think they were about average.

Has there been any input from DeMarini on this? There are people getting ready to head out there (older groups) who are looking to bring something with them that will pass.

Welcome to the "monopoly" that is PGF, created by the indifference of ASA to what the "customers" wanted.

Have to disagree. It was not indifference in ASA. It was dealing with the game for everyone in the country, not just SoCal. The rules and code were also subject to the democratic process, which means everyone, but the umpires, get a vote. Representation is based upon team/player registration, so the Southwest is well represented.

As for bracket play, we left NJ to play a team from NJ. So far I'm not a fan of the format and wil be voting not to come back. CO is a much better value.
Funny you mention CO since the 3 NJ teams in Boulder IDT's Louisville event ended up seeded in a 4-team group for the first 2 rounds - NJ Intensity Mizuno eliminated NJ East Coast Elite in their 1st game and were eliminated by NJ Nightmare in their 2nd game. The only way to stop it is bracket protection.

PGF had bracket protection the first year, 2010, and dropped it afterward due to complaints the first round byes in 16U went to CA teams. PGF has a much better mix of teams now and could reinstate it, however the feedback they've gotten is against it.

ASA also removed bracket protection for 2011 and still has it for pools. That change also made another change possible where teams can draw their bracket position after their last pool game instead of waiting until a draw meeting after all teams had completed pool play.

Our team played three teams from other parts of the country in pool play, and we're playing a team from (fairly) close by in the first round. I dunno...at least it's not a showcase where we're seeing the same old teams all over again.

Wasn't there a post last year about PGF rejecting Demarini's. I think its a creative ploy by Demarini to get there get free buzz and publicity about their bats being hot and barely legal.

I don't know if I'm just not looking in the right place, but I can't find where the scores are posted.
PGF hasn't posted pool scores the last 2 years, however this year many are posted on the schedule - Premier Girls Fastpitch. PGF switched their website to Bonzi this year and navigating the schedule seems difficult/lacking.

Bracket updates often lag. Live scoring for all bracket games used to be provided via PointStreak, however FloSoftball's streaming of 12U-18U Premier games has resulted in them cutting PointStreak back to just 10U and Platinum. smh

Here's a link to PoinStreak - Premier Girls Fastpitch - schedule | Pointstreak Sports Technologies
