The elbow is reactive though.

You can certainly isolate things so you know what should happen, but there is an order and thinking I will just elbow poke and swing is not accurate.

What I was trying to show was the sequence in which Yee gets her barrel loaded (more or less on plane while still behind her in the process of coming around) compared to your daughter (and million other boys and girls)

The sequence will also create that backwards "C" I highlighted in the Yee clip that clears room for the elbow to get through.

Again - these are all mostly created by a good sequence. But, it helps to see what effects should result as check points.

work on sequence - in basic terms learning to turn the hips before the barrel gets on plane behind her without turning her shoulders with her hips. Just develop the sequence and let her rip.

I think the thought behind that "elbow poke" is something she can understand. I will show her this comparison and talk through that thought and try to work it in.

Going for simple because I'm a simply guy. Watch Yee's rear elbow. Watch your DD's rear elbow.

See if your DD can copy/match her/Yee's rear elbow. As your DD lowers her hands that is a good time to load the elbow behind the corner. Just that one little 'elbow poke' to someone she doesn't wont standing behind her(not beside her) will do the trick.
*I'm adding-Try a more vertical bat. Right now your DD'd bat is flat. Vertical bat or 45 degree bat might help the 'elbow poke'.

I really like Yee's "C"! Of course to see the full extent of it, you'd have to be on a 4-foot ladder out to the left of her.

I just love how Yee's barrel comes into the point of contact from behind the ball right on the plane of the pitch!

By the way... That girl and that screen with front toss..... I took a line-drive to my bicep just Thursday night. It's really weird. Looks more like I was just hit by a hard hit racquetball, not a softball. Has a small whiteish center with a half-inch red ring around it. OUCH!!!

Funny thing, it was a hitter who I've recently turned into a hitter using Yee-like mechanics. It's added real power to her hits. AND, it's made her hit more line-drives right back at me.

Like Ray Said You need to engage the upfront actions so the swing can be released behind you.

This Young DD needs to be seting up the sequence to flow before the beginning of this clip. Her upper half (spine) is doing nothing until pitch recognition.

We all tend to look at the segments of the sequence to late in the swing.

IMHO, I'd start with posture, she starts vertical, stays vertical. Stop at contac and I see her bending at the bottom of the ribcage to meet the ball instead of bending at the waist. I think the hands are just doing what they have to do to get to the ball.

Compare the upper body angle of the hitter on the left from start to contact.

Curious what her SBA coach thinks.

To add to what RD has said, and at the risk of opening a can-of-worms.... My DD was doing what this young lady is doing, she is circling her rear arm versus pulling back and and firing with a fused torso. This was some very good advice provided to my DD:

Yep. Starting with the bat vertical and a "poked" elbow has been effective with my DD who is trying to get away from the same DBSL pattern that we see in this girl.

Can of worms opened and spilled all over lol...

Do you really think Yee is doing what is being demonstrated in the video?

Fusing the torso is terrible advice....

Knights, How do you direct the barrel towards and through the ball IF your scap is fused to the torso?
