Here is my beast in the red in her first 10U at bat this last weekend sizing up her opponent. 4'1" and 50lbs. I always have her throw with the wind at her back.IMG_3227.jpg

Since the topic of this thread is 10U pitching speed, when my DD was 10 years old, she was barely breaking 40MPH. It was her first year pitching and she started because both pitchers on her team "aged up" the previous season and we did not have a pitcher, so the head coach asked for volunteers! LOL Since then she has added @ 5 MPH per year, which is from a combination of growth, improvements in her mechanics, leg drive, and countless hours of "bucket time".....

We played this weekend in one of the southeast best tourneys. 10u "A" had 24 teams. Out of those my best guess is at least 8 teams had girls that hit 50 consistently. The successful girls were at least 45 plus with a good change.

In lying about speed, yes it would appear that FL is behind GA in that catagory.

Well, according to Georgia's "A" team websites, their first year 14U pitchers are all throwing over 60, and according to the chart posted on page 1 here, that's Jennie Finch speed. Somebody's lying :)

An 02 was clocked on radar at 58 this weekend in our tourney. If the gun was off a couple of miles an hour she hit 55-56. Pretty stout. Some kids are gifted and work their tail off to continuously improve.

I can say, from what I've seen around here, the kid who is throwing major gas at 10u usually gets passed up by 2nd year 12u. Not always, but I would say a vast majority of the time.
