Well, the Easton Synge guards she's had for about 15mo are cracked, and I don't have duct tape in the right color, so it's time to replace them. Previous Easton guards lasted 3 years and were still in good enough shape to hand down.

She's quite fit, and wears adult size gear for length. What's good out there?

GG - Congrats to your DD. You can't crack shin pads unless you're consistently blocking properly! DD's last 2 pairs have been Eastons but is looking at Mizuno (Samarai?) but wants to try on some others too before she decides what's next. Have you seen the customized white Allstars NECC has? Not for sale and not a practical color, but they do look good!

I have seen those, probably the only color I've NEVER seen used by a ftp team, but they are pretty.

We switched to the Wilson ProMotion gear. Not sure of the durability yet since they're a new line but the dd loves them, especially the leg guards.

Always liked Easton for my DD. They have gone cheap with the padding in the knee cups the last year or two though... The first thing I tend to look at are the pads in the knee cup. (For blocking) Are they a dense foam or have some type of cushioning? Are they removable? Rawlings (Dense foam) has some of the best shin guards I have seen for a while... All Star/Under Armour uses air cushions. They run the risk of popping , breaking or deflating though...

I had one of my fastpitch catchers come in with the Rawlings leggings. The knee padding is the best I have seen with dense foam for good cushioning. They were comfortable for her and seemed to fit well. I tend to think baseball when I think Rawlings.... Not anymore! :)

Hi everyone, I'm brand new to the forum. I love it, I've just been soaking it up for the last several days. My 11 yo DD has a new set of Easton gear that I got a Dick's I believe. this is her 2nd set of gear and she's never given an opinion of her equipment (either "I love it" or "I hate it"). She did however take a fast ball off of the side of her right knee last night a pitcher's practice that put her down for a couple minutes. this is her first year of 12U and the pitching is markedly faster. I'm thinking of suggesting that she wear her thin sliding pads under her leg guards for additional cushioning.

Thanks for all the great info guys.

@HM Welcome. DD has the type of guards that extend above the knee, so she's well armored.
I do know she has worn thin Mizuno knee pads at1B, and left them on under the gear all day.

My daughter loves her Mizuno Samurais - we got an older generation for cheap on clearance, and they have interlocking plastic clips instead of the traditional metal clasps. She really likes the padding in the knees - cracked the knees in the TPX set she outgrew.
