I apologize , Im not a hitting guru but, I believe he started her out with the 8oz. Normal tee work, and front toss. DD had a problem with casting so with the weight being below the hands it really helps her feel where the knob of the bat was going and enhanced the whip feeling. He also has some weighted sleeves that he uses for his older girls. They slide on closer to the handle than a normal sleeve. I believe they are made by the same company.

I use an 8 oz for lessons. 10 swings at the most

I have a homemade weighted bat with weight in the handle. 6-10 swings, then to the procut, just a bit lighter, 6-10 swings then some weighted balls with there reular bat, 6-10 swings.
Different kids of different size and strength. I try not to over do anything.

Thanks to both of you for the comments.

SL, one of the things I've learned in my hitting journey is too much of any good thing is a bad thing.
