Widened "V", yes. But some of the widening occurs above the elbow as well. The upper and lower arm both need to work together.
My point is that you cannot turn the barrel, or get that barrel down, with the arm Above the elbow. These guys that have a Deeper swing, will have the arm more horizontal sooner, with a widened V sooner.
I am not sure about this, maybe someone with a zep can measure this, but to employ more of a good whip, to utilize the first turning motions of the upper, a swing that is to deep will not have the same speed as one that turns a bit more, before moving the handle to far from the body.
