I have also found the more kids are scared of making a mistake (because they get yelled at, punished, etc for every little thing) the more they become afraid to take risks on the field. Risk is necessary, it's where all the really killer plays come from.

^^^^^This. Fear of failure! If a girl lays it all out and makes a mistake while giving 100% all you'll see me doing is clapping my hands and telling her to do it again!

I've tried to call them twice (no ans. and VM is not set up) and sent a couple texts asking them to call me back..... no response.

You have done all U can. I have followed your posts enough that I know you will not take it out on player.

Just grab them at game, let AC run team for a little while.

Coaching is so fun, would not trade it for anything.

I think if you get rid of the issue, you'll be glad down the road. My feeling is, a little pain up front is much better than a season of that crap! Also, some advice for those parent that think they know it all... "Get up off your butt, start your own team, and then you can share all that wisdom with those kids. Otherwise, if you aren't going to put in the time like a real coach, sit down & shut up!

BTW, I am very fortunate. The team I coach has no drama like this. The parents are very supportive and don't complain. The get it & I appreciate every one of them. I've experienced it with other teams, so now I would rather send a great player with bad parents packing than deal with the drama. You can teach a kid how to play softball. Its a lot easier than teaching adults how to play nice!

I finally got a chance to speak with them. WE BOTH decided that this isn't a good fit. Funny thing here is, they've asked me to continue to be her pitching coach...lol. WHAT?
They hate the way I'm "too easy and soft" on the kids at the games, and called me a no good daddy ball coach, but then turned around and brags me up saying they love the way I give private lessons..... good grief, some people?

My guess is they think their DD is too good for the team and you weren't pushing the rest of the team hard enough to get better. That would explain why they still prefer you as a pitching coach. I'm not sure I could work with someone who called me a "no good daddy ball coach" though...

Hahaha,,, oh wow.....

$5 says the following will happen.

- they will end up on an additional 2 teams over the next 6 months
- Dad will make his own team featuring his DD which will last less than a season but will have AWESOME looking uniforms
- they will end up on a team that is either awful or on a team where all the nutjobs families end up playing because they have all run out of teams to go to.
- 24 months from now, you will hear through the grapevine that his DD told her dad to Shut the &#@*# up during a game, walked off the field and quit softball.

Alternate (if the kid has talent):
- Dad finds military drill Sargent /football lunatic screaming coach who runs a 12U team like a 16U recruiting team with massive player turnover and a massive roster
- Dad tells everyone this coach is great - but in reality they win because they have lots of talented kids being pushed by other lunatic parents.
- They travel EVERY weekend for the next 2 years
- 24 months from now, you will hear through the grapevine that his DD told her dad to Shut the &#@*# up during a game, walked off the field and quit softball.
