Shucks Hal, I thought you invented the open mechanics style pitching, my bad. Where is the propaganda? I'm not the one pushing the snake oil in my signature.
I don't give a squirrel's behind if you claim to have been around the world 17 times and your mom drove the bus under the ocean so...
I would approach the coach and explain her mechanics. I've found most that teach the old school style tend to do so out of ignorance and not knowing or understanding why Hillhouse teaches what he does. I would then explain, the 2-3 months of using bad mechanics will take 8 months to correct...
I think her mechanics change between the two pitches because she (the girl) is taught to change her mechanics between the two pitches. Hillhouse is the only one I know of that mechanics never change between all of the pitches, only difference is the rise ball grip and the spin.
How would you know if you aren't calling the pitches? No where was anyone arguing hitting the girl because she is a better athlete. Why are reading more than what is written?
Who said she is throwing at kids? I suggested that its part of the game and it does happen. There are some girls who play dirty and need to be reminded from time to time who is truly in control of the game.
Is it ok for the catcher to intentionally miss a pitch to wake up the umpire?
Where did I say ribs? I SAID thigh. IF you are naive enough to believe it doesn't happen at every single level then so be it. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean she isn't getting beaned. Teach your DD how to take a hit.
I don't understand why its taboo. It's part of the game. My dd hasn't played for an organization yet where this doesn't happen. Did I say you go out and intentionally hurt someone by shooting for the ear hole? NO. But a shove into the thigh stings a little and can clearly send a message...
Bill does not throw a fastball nor does he encourage throwing a fastball. Fastball being a single plane flat pitch. If she wants to pitch take her to some tryouts and see what she is made of. If she makes a team as a pitcher great. If not, continue practicing for next year's tryouts. I for...
It's my understanding that when at the top of the windmill and the ball is facing 3rd its more of a natural flip when they come to the bottom of the circle.
I was going to say the same thing. Remember speed & power should come from the legs. Without the leap and drag you have nothing but arm strength leading the way. IMO.
I heard a coach once tell a pitcher with this problem to put a weighted ankle braclet on till they got used to the drag. Whether this works or is ok, I'm not an expert, but thought it made sense.
My dd is going thru the same thing right now. She doesn't finish up 10u until the end of July, but we have started the transition already. I suggest one practice a week at 40' with the 11", one practice at 40' with 12" ball and one practice a week at 45' with 12" ball. The reason we go beyond...
