What is the reasoning for showing the ball to 3rd/1st during the top part of the circle prior to pulling down with the hand under the ball versus continually showing the ball to the catcher clear up to final whip? Sun drill style.

Is one way more preferred or safer?

I don't think it's possible to not turn the hand while rotating, if someone can their more flexible than I am.

It's my understanding that when at the top of the windmill and the ball is facing 3rd its more of a natural flip when they come to the bottom of the circle.

For a right handed pitcher, your thumb must turn towards 3rd to keep the circle inline with the power line. If you do not turn your thumb, the arm moves way away from the body.

Take note of PROPER high level mechanics...........

Notice Mr. Hillhouse "showing it to the catcher" at the top...........He hand rotates slighty outward for 2 frames to relieve socket pressure during the transition.......then back under the ball at 3:00.............to prepare for a good I/R release........
