When did you pitching DD start pitching exclusively?

I don't blame you, I know my daughter would be upset if she wasn't allowed to hit. I think it's silly to sit them so young but I get why they do it.

When did you pitching DD start pitching exclusively?

My daughter is a pitcher and is just now finding her batting niche. She bats in the #5 hole for her travel team (14u), worked up from #9, she is also a good choice at 1st base because she is always the tallest kid and very flexible. I think most coaches worry about the chance of injury with...

    Chicken wing

My daughter throws a flip change and she is definitely mastering it. People tried talking her into easier change ups but she only felt comfortable throwing it that way. She felt like the other ways were harder, for some reason the flip change was easier for her to learn. Gonna have to ask my...

    Push/Stride Length

Didn't realize this was a bump until after the fact but yes, very good information. Thanks for bumping this, in our house it's much needed.

    Push/Stride Length

This describes my daughter. 38" inseam and so flexible she can pull her back leg straight up like a standing split. She loses all stability when she drives out too far. I once saw her fall to the ground, after throwing a strike... Gonna show this to her.

    Gloves

Very good to know! We figured the price tag was worth it if she was able to use it for at least 3 years. We got the 2015 edition instead of the 2016 to save $80.

    Gloves

My daughter pitches and plays 1st base, she's in 8th grade. She is 6ft tall so has pretty big hands, her glove is a 13". It looks like this. I will have to get into her bag and see the exact name of it, but we had problems with previous gloves like you described. We're hoping this one will last...

Walk-throughs and long tosses better than pitching?

My daughter also seems much more relaxed doing walk throughs and long toss. She does long toss from 2nd base and it looks effortless. Maybe I should have her begin with long toss instead of finishing with it.

    Baby it's cold outside

We had to sit through the 20's at about midnight one fall tournament. Some how the girls won despite being miserably cold. It was one of the worst nights of my life, lol. Growing up in AZ and now living in FL I do not like cold.

When to move to a 34" bat?

I have to agree with the bat speed quote. My daughter is 6' tall and around 140 pounds and could not swing a 34" bat well, so in her case size has nothing to do with it. I've seen smaller girls on her team swing a bat that size like it's nothing, and I've seen 1 or 2 swing it like a slow motion...

    24 Hour Rule

That is usually the case. Good luck finding a catcher and with your daughter's feet.

    Pitching pictures (help)

We're from Tucson. Don't know if we'll be able to visit this Christmas, but when we do make the long trip to visit my family I will be contacting you.

    Pitching pictures (help)

These are pictures from our first middle school game. I didn't take these and I put a lot on here because I am clueless as to which ones would actually be beneficial. I will try and get some video soon, it's just hard to do. We're just now getting control of the ball, it used to be either wild...

Michael Phelps - The Last Goodbye

That is actually an extremely powerful video in so many ways. It says a lot of things all at once.

    Factory Dip Pitching Toe

We stuck gorilla glue on her $80 all leather mizuno cleats. It worked! I have to say, lately her pitching has done a complete 360, everything about it has changed (thankfully for the better) and she isn't ripping her cleats open anymore, either. She's still very much dragging that toe, it's just...

    HS teachers against student athletes...

We ran into problems like this with a teacher last year when my daughter was in 7th grade. She had a huge problem with my straight A student missing so much class time, even though she maintained her straight A grades through the season. Eventually the coach had to contact the principal for some...

metal or molded for 12 yr. old

Smart strategy, lol. Mine isn't very fast either, kind of like a newborn giraffe.

metal or molded for 12 yr. old

My 13 yr old wears them for travel ball but they're not allowed to wear them at the middle school, only the boys... She prefers them for pitching. If they're allowed to wear them I would say go for metal. As a side note, I wish my kid would figure out the powerful hitting thing. At 6 ft tall you...

low back pain, how common is the dreaded pars fracture?

I hope whatever her injury is, the healing process is short and she comes back stronger!
