What is the fix then?

What Howe is suggesting is that the mental image of the swing needs to be redefined for this hitter ... that a feel of the hands/wrists loading at swing initiation needs to be learned ... as does a directional release into contact.

Many of us come across hitters like this. What fix do you recommend?

Did I not just write I agree with the loading???? Did I not write "swing out from" last night???? Is swing out from NOT directional release in to contact???? Don't answer, it is in my mind.

I has stuff to do…you guys will just have to find someone else to play imaginary totem pole with.

I don't agree with this.

I do agree that the shoulder supports the objective ... but it does so in a manner in which an active connection was being made to the hands. A focus on the shoulder, with the hands hoping to deliver the barrel, won't work in the batter's box.

KIDS push to initiate….we see this ALOT. Hands moving away from their body far too early. I am fine with you not agreeing with my cue, don't use it.

You almost helped someone without trying to start another argument!!! Good job!

Hmmmm .... and yet "you" wrote this ....

….not centripetal to centrifugal blah blah.

My point being that you aren't exactly "Mr Innocent". Howe has done much here to be commended for.

Not saying that your posts aren't helpful ... they are ... but Howe has a refreshing outlook on the swing that I hope folks give some serious thought towards.

Pushing to initiate the swing is bad form. Ted Williams himself only considered it acceptable as a two-strike mechanic, if then.

If you create a proper corner, do the hands really move away from the body too early? Mine don't.

When I looked at this gif:
Cabrera_highside_slo-1.gif

I got the 'feeling' of a 'push' at/into extension.

No need to be argumentative.

The question that you did not answer remains. What is the fix that you recommend?

You had a good observation of the rear elbow becoming semi-stuck to the side. So the question is to the fix that you propose to correct that issue.

and this is exactly what I explained several times is my thought of shoulder delivering the hands….at initiation the hands are loading…resisting the unloading of the lower half…the upper half continuing to resist is the feeling of the shoulder delivering or at least starting the hands forward movement.

YES THERE IS…because I said it last night:
I would work a bit on swinging from behind to out front, not so much around.

Never claim to be innocent. You are certainly are not. I agree Howe can be helpful, but he WAS trying to get me started and he did. NOW I really need to get some things done.
