2 faulty swings seem to equal a pattern to me. How bout some side video of your DD Lenski? It's easy to critique other kids swings, for the record I've posted a ton of video of my DD on here over the years so I know how RD & you feel.

It's like pulling off a band-aid. You know it's going to hurt when you pull it off/(post). It is easier to critique other kids swings because then I don't have my ''rose color glassess'' on.

Rdbass,

You have been on this site along time, you sift thru all the feedback and bickering between the know it alls (not only this thread) and those who have dds that went thru the journey and playing ball at a college level. Its not easy what you (crazy softball daddys) are trying to do. Some kids listen and interept easier than others. You gotta remember the thousands of swings she has taken before you knew what was a real swing. All that muscle memory she has, its not her or your fault, you thought it was the right way to swing a bat. You get on the net, and its a whole new world.

Our kids could look great at practice, drills and tee work, front toss ect. Put them vs. a machine or live bp with her coaches and teamates watching, some will smash others will not look so good. Is it nerves? Mental part of the game? She is young, keep up the positve, and dont make a drag to go with dear old dad to work on the swing. Keep it fun. She is also a pitcher right? Less time for hitting with dear old dad. The clip shows she not doing what you guys have been working on. Its ok, it takes time, disect the clip together.

Good luck

It's really tough being critiqued by so many people...that's why DD said no more posting of video. She lets me send it to a few people via p.m. or e-mail and seems to be able to take their "constructive criticism" much better.

Yes, DD is a pitcher and starts on JV. I watch most of her practices. DD has taken 1 swing in all the practice I have seen. Also asked her if she batted and its always no. All DD seems to do is pitch batting practice and when not pitching she practices SS. Yesterday when the JV team walk off the field dad and DD walked on the field for batting practice. Game today.

As stated before, this is a changeup. She was out in front, and changed and adapted and did what she had to do to hit the ball. Nothing more. Most kids would not have hit this ball, so I don't mind you posting it one bit.

Lenski ... first let me say I was impressed by some of your daughter's catching mechanics. This looks to have been trained ... and she has learned well.

Second ... what we see here in your daughter's swing goes well beyond that of a change-up. And as with your daughter's catching, what she is doing in her swing looks to have been trained as well ... albeit this time not to her benefit.

Question ... why does your daughter throw left-handed but bat right-handed?

I ask for multiple reasons ... one of which is that your daughter is performing an odd mechanic in her rear shoulder when she swings. Her connective process does not involve proper scap action ... and actually bypasses it. Did your daughter receive training at one point that gave her a goal of having a vertical rear forearm at any point in her swing? Her swing has that appearance.

Think about it ... for a change-up there is no excuse for the rear arm action we see. The early connective process should be well established for a CU, yet it isn't. What we see is very likely a trained mechanic.

RD,

Tell Laura to not let this affect her, I know it's hard. I made Brooke sit down with me everytime we posted video of her and at first it did hurt a little but like I've always said, in this journey you have to set personal emotions to the side, you have to approach it like you do your job, if you want to reach the end goal you are going to have setbacks. I personally feel sitting down with your kid and dissecting the criticisms is a great life lesson.

If softball is truly what Laura wants keep pushing & supprting her and it will come.

FFS,

I totally agree, these are her swings

Len's dd plays on an elite travel team. Yes she is a stud of a catcher, I have watched her play. Her hitting coach use to be a very successful college hitting coach, not sure if she still goes to him.
