If I didn't know anything about pitching, I probably would believe this information.

Pitching is the most important part of fast-pitch softball. The pitcher's mound is 46 feet from home plate and the pitcher must follow the official softball rules in order to pitch legally and effectively.

Legal delivery
In order to make a legal pitch, the pitcher must start out with both feet on the pitcher's plate -- known as the mound -- and then can start her motion to deliver the ball. She may take one step before going forward. She must then go forward and deliver the ball in one straightforward motion and stay in the pitcher's circle when the pitch is finished.

Apparently they are giving the rules for men's fast pitch and saying them as woman's rules except must stay in the circle? Must be the same guy who wrote the rules for my 9u rec league. He stated that balk are not to be called. I looked on eHow and I think the people who wrote these articles are on the lower end of the info totem pole.

But...but...but...it's on the internet, so it must be true! ;)

Seriously, I don't know if I've ever seen so many misinterpreted rules packed into so few sentences.

I have funny story for everyone.

During a middle school game the visting team was batting and there pitcher was due up to bat. I looked over and coming out of the dugout was the pitcher holding a bat and another girl walking toward home plate with her. I thought it look odd but I just keeped watching. The pitcher stepped into the batters box on the left side and the other girl stood directly behind her. The umpire ask her what she was doing and the coach stood up in the dugout and said "SHE IS MY COURTESY RUNNER".......I could not believe it, It was everything I could do to not laugh out loud. The umpire explained to the coach that pitcher has to get on base before you get a runner. I guess this just shows what we have for middle school coaches.
