Why Age determination differences?

Does anyone know What made LL keep softball age determination 8 months behind baseball?

No one knows why there's an 8 month difference from boys to girls ages on the little league chart?
I'm only guessing safety reasons, but that's just assumption

I don't know what safety would have to do with it, there's pretty much no physical height/weight difference between a <14 year old boy vs girl.

I decided to call National Little League #.The answer he gave me was they came to the final conclusion by way of scientific studies on physical maturity rates/abilities.
