One of my peeves is a coach who insists players slide headfirst but doesn't teach them how.
another peeve is when a BR dives in to a base but is on her elbows when she is tagged out (in other words, she is going in higher than if she went feet-first and has a shorter reach)
so here's my question:
seems to me like a lot of closeplay/outs I have seen at the HS level could have been avoided if the player went feet first.
so when is it to the baserunners advantage so slide headfirst and when feet first?
or does it all come down to which one they can execute better?
