Considering swing mechanics are good, what is the one area to look to, to help generate home run power: timing, bat speed, hips, lower body? Just would like to know where a smallish kid, (5'3 120lbs), should begin to adjust. She currently has consistent, gap to gap, line drive capability. Pulls to left occasionally, but line drives only or foul FB. Has bounced a couple over CF fence but, no home runs... :' (

Grow more, and perhaps hit the weights a bit. A smaller kid getting close like that is a pretty good situation. A swing generating line drives to the gaps was always the goal with DD. When she got older, bigger, and strong enough, the balls started flying over.

Yes, she bench presses 100lbs but school doesn’t allow her to try more. She’s pretty much done growing at 15 though so, just hoping for a little more power. Her drives are producing singles rather than doubles as they did before. Perhaps that’s due to the higher level of competition now. All in all, we’re happy with her swing, just hoping for something that can get her to 3B. She’s lead off so a single is good as a double for her but, you know…. Power talks sometimes.

You'd be surprised at how many light weight players can hit HR's.. A firm swing and flush contact off of 55mph pitching will easily travel!

Positively, weight training will build power and make it easier to clear the fence, but also train hitting for distance. Use google maps and measure out 180' from the fence (or whatever your DD can occasionally hit) and place a home plate there to pitch to her. When the frequency gets up to 5 OTF per 25 pitches, move it back 5 or 10'. This will take time but it is important she feel what it takes in terms of swing effort and quality contact.

Once the distance is there, work on HR power from inside as well as outside pitches.

Post a video of her vs live pitching. Energy is leaking somewhere
What is her batting avg?
If she can bench 100lbs she should be plenty strong
