I think FHSAA (Florida) jumped to 43ft and steel cleats in 2009-2010 for a 1 year pilot and never looked back. Most of the alphabets are throwing at 43ft and allow steel for 14U now. I specifically remember all the predictions of carnage and destruction with the change to steel that never happened.

We moved our HS back during the optional 2009-10. We also moved the MS to 43'.

Pitching distances are from front edge of pitcher's plate to rear point on home plate.

Its from the front of the pitching plate to the apex of home plate. The point at the back of home plate.
