DD's team played today and we had a situation (which actually occurred 2x in the same game) that raised some questions.
DD was on first.
Wild pitch - DD running towards 2nd base - throw coming in - DD slides. (Not sure if it makes a difference or not, but 2nd baseman was standing on the outfield side of the bag - about 2 feet back)
Ball hits DD's shoe and goes FLYING into the outfield. DD regains her footing and is able to "steal" home.
Both PU and FU said DD did nothing wrong and awarded her team the run.
Next at bat, DD hits...safe at 1st.
Another wild pitch.
DD attempting a steal at 2nd again and is hit in the thigh while sliding, by the throw from the catcher.
Again the ball goes flying and DD regains her footing and makes it to 3rd.
Again, PU and FU agreed she did nothing wrong.
Opposing teams parents were going wild. They kept saying that DD interfered with the play and should be out.
Both times she was the only runner on base and her team did beat the other team 16-1 so it didn't make that much of a difference...I guess I'm just curious if the call could/should have gone differently.
She does have 2 nice bruises to show - one on her toe and one on her thigh - the leg one even has some lace marks. That catcher had a cannon!
ETA: DD did not see the throw coming either time - just felt it when it hit.
