Grabbed the trusty old pinewood derby racing car scale today and weighed DD's favorite bats and the results were;

DeMarini CF6 Hope 31/21 20.50 oz
Easton Mako FP14MK 31/21 22.25 oz
Easton Stealth Speed SSR3B 31/21 22.45 oz

Anyone else have similar results with Easton's being an ounce over sticker? Anybody have some true weight versus sticker weight of their own to share? How can they get away with being that sloppy? Ounces matter in fastpitch just as they do in pinewood derby racing (it's all physics).

Easton traditionally runs about an ounce over sticker. DD has a 31/21 that weighed in at 22.3 and has a 32/22 that is 22.9. DeMarini seems to always be almost an ounce light from my experience. The LXT's we have weighed seem to be almost right on.

We accidentally had 2 Makos sent to us and even though all of our previous Easton's weighed up to 2 ounces heavier than listed, one 34" Mako weighed slightly under 24 ounces and one weighed .5 over. It seems like the smaller Makos are all coming in heavier though. We put on a knob cuff and now the one we kept weighs 24.3 ounces.

Not a real shock there...pretty well known Eastons will run a little heavy. Every manufacturer has a +/- that they are ok with.

Before you ask, it would be completely impossible to make every bat dead on.

DD has two Easton Synergy Speed SRV4B bats in 32/22. One weighs 23.3 oz and the other weighs 23.4 oz.

She has an Easton Mako 32/22 that weighs 22.9 oz.

She has a Louisville Slugger LXT 32/22 that weighs 21.6 oz. Another LXT 32/23 weighs 22.8 oz.

Her DeMarini CF7 Hope 32/22 weighs 21.9 oz.

Our team has another Mako that is a touch heavier than DD's at 23.1 oz.

We have half a dozen LXTs ... all weigh between 21.6 and 21.8 oz.

All of our DeMarini CF6s (two -10 and five -11) are anywhere from 0.2 oz under sticker to dead nuts on.

I have a new batch of 2Legits at the shop, I will weigh them all and see what we come up with them.

Did about 10-15 2Legits

Range from .6 to an ounce or so over.

Physical weight can be misleading depending on the construction of the bat. Anderson bats are heavier than labeled because of the heavy solid knobs they use. Their labeled weight is/was the "swing weight" because the extra weight in the knob wasn't a factor in how the bat swung.

A bigger issue is when a manufacturer isn't accurate regarding different drop weights. A guy went on an epic rant on another board because he bought 2 Demarini bats - same model and length, but different drop weights because he expected his DD to progress to the heavier bat. He was understandably ticked when the bats arrived and weighed the same. To make it worse, when he called customer service to exchange the bat with the incorrect weight, they informed him there was no guarantee he would get what he wanted.
