Right Here For Now
In our rec league we don't start FP until 12u. They feel any earlier than that and the girls lose out on not getting the fundamentals down. As in any rec league we have really good coaches that teach proper throwing, catching and a swing and some that are not so good. In the 10u they are drafted to other teams. Usually, not always but usually, by the time they hit FP they're pretty solid in all 3. I feel they lose out on the situational drills but they usually catch up by mid season in 12u. We have a good coaching staff at that age. By the end of the season and all-stars/tournament time roll around, we're very competive against the other leagues in our area. Not so much against TB teams but we send them a lot of players by 14u. I'm not advocating that this is for everyone nor do I necessarily agree with it, but I really don't have a say in it.
