Not a fan of the mindset of 'laser the ball'. That said, I do something very similar to this with a mindset of "getting behind the ball".
By golly...I think he's finally got it. Yay!Rdbass put this up a short while ago.
It was my opinion that this was to support the notion of 'one-legged'.
Personally I don't teach this action so much as 'one-legged' ... but instead in terms of developing initial bat speed by the usage of the rear-side of the torso ... the development of a corner ... segment running from the rear shoulder/scap to rear hip.
If 'one-legged' is about the development of this action, then I agree with it.
Why might this be considered 'one-legged'? Simply because if you are premature to shift your weight forward too early then the radius will be too long to perform this action.
I'm assuming that will cut down on the 'out front' look on this swing.more forearm sup and ur in business
What exactly does “getting behind the ball mean”? Is “behind” the direction it is coming from? That phrase has never clicked for me.
This will help with the sequence of the swing. It should be a staple in your daily routine.
A couple of ‘tricks’ I use with my youngsters to help them with some concepts that may go over their head...keeping their torso fused and loading beside not around the spine.
