Not sure if it was a law or is a universal thing, but Indianapolis International made us check dds bat bag. (Said it was too big to carry on)(there was nothing said about the possibility of the bats being considered a weapon) I was extremely hesitant because there are no locks to secure the three bats that cost $300 each. I had visions of the bats being missing or damaged due to being on the bottom of a luggage pile. But thankfully we found everything just fine on the conveyor belt after the flight.

I always save the boxes my DD's bats come in just in case I need to check one at the airport.

Is there any problem with metal spikes?
They haven't said anything to my dd about her metal spikes in her carry on. Best thing to do to be sure would be to call your airline.

We have taken JetBlue and some other cheap airline I can't remember.
