DD has always been a pull hitter and her achilles heel has always been the outside change up with two strikes against.. guaranteed strikeout. In Tuesday nights game she faced a big strong pitcher, fouled the first 2 pitches off. Pitcher was up 0-2. Pitcher kept pounding her inside and my DD kept fouling balls off, 10 pitches in roll protecting the plate. Then the pitcher threw the dreaded change up. DD did her toe tap, recognized the pitch, continued to pinch her scap and then unloaded on it. Line drive over 3rd bases head, just foul. At bat continued on for a few more pitches until DD lined out to left field. DD has hit homeruns before in big games, but recognizing the change up, holding back and making good contact was one of my proudest moments as a dad.
