Am looking for help on what size catching equipment to buy for a 12 year old. The sports stores in the local area do not have a good selection to try on and I would like to order some on-line.

She is ~59 inches tall and is average build.

Any comments appreciated.

I would think where ever your buying it from could help with this.

You measure from the collar bone to the belly button for the chest protector. Leg guards are probably going to be for age 10 YO and a helmet would be youth sized.

I found this catcher's sizing info:

Catcher's Gear Sizing Chart

Helmets - How to find your hat size
• Place a measuring tape around your head just above the ears (Like you would place a hat on your head).
• Take the total circumference (distance around) in inches and match it to the chart below.
• For example: If your head measured 22 1/2 inches, your hat size would be 7 1/8.
Inches: 20 3/4 21 1/4 21 5/8 22 22 1/2 22 3/4 23 1/4 23 5/8 24 24 1/2 24 3/4 25 1/4
Hat Size: 6 5/8 6 3/4 6 7/8 7 7 1/8 7 1/4 7 3/8 7 1/2 7 5/8 7 3/4 7 7/8 8

Chest Protector
• To determine the correct size of chest protector, measure from the collar bone to the bottom of the torso.
• Match the measurement in inches to the size listed in the product description.
Leg Guards
• To determine the correct size of leg guards, measure from the middle of the kneecap to the ankle.
• Match the measurement in inches to the size listed in the product description.

• Size Large typically fits those who are 5' 8" & up

Here we shopped at a Sports Authority and found the Rawlings youth size for an 11 year old sufficient. They let us try it on. I just bought three catcher's mitts today online, to see if we can find one that is the right size for my DD, with a no questions asked return policy. The 34 incher I bought two years ago was a mistake--I didn't know any better then.
