I asked this question 15 years ago, how short is to short? A common theme of a short swing is that there is no looping, casting. The swing is void of what is called early batspeed today. So what is a short swing?

A proper "short" swing is about hand path from launch to contact...
Knob-to-ball creates a short hand path, but also a short barrel path, which is not ideal for developing speed or depth.
Agreed..I wasn't saying what I heard was correct..just that is what I typically hear and then see demonstrated
In other words, based upon what I have seen as the common teaching/approach for a short swing, I wouldn't associate a HL swing with the words short swing.
Turning the barrel immediately around a rear leg axis produces the shortest swing. See Barry Bonds
