She doesn't have a hitting coach

Give them as much instruction as possible based on your assessment of their abilities. If they are like many of the kids I see basic instruction is probably appropriate. Don't make the mistake of assuming they're too young to learn proper mechanics, such as coil, rock the u, stride, etc.

As far as parents, let them know YOUR philosophy, YOUR opinion. Listen to parents of course but know and communicate YOUR plan.

Also, IMO it would be best to make certain that all players learn to throw. One of the best coaches I'm aware of will not seriously teach hitting until the players can throw properly. And one of the best resources, which I finally broke down and bought, is Wassermann's e-book on throwing. This is a MUST HAVE!! Much of what I've read there applies directly to hitting. Search for Austin Wasserman on this site. Throwing and hitting go hand in hand!
