I love the little rubberized golf balls, use them all the time, like these: Amazon link
Also, I'm a tennis player and have a Slinger ball machine that holds enough balls that I can set it up in one lane and a player can hit for 10 mins before needing to pick up. It also only throws with topspin, so all drop balls. I think the smaller ball size has been a benefit. At $600 if you've got money to burn, it's a lot cheaper than a good quality pitching machine, a lot lighter, and it's automatic feed.
