Hi. I realize this may have asked several times before, hoever my search couldn't come up with exactly what I was looking for. My DD is a first yr 12U player. She has been plying 10U TB for the past 2 seasons with a 11.75" glove. She likes it is comfortable, but I've had a coach tell me he thought she would be better suited to a larger glove. DD has a 1st base mitt for her primary position but she is playing 3rd more and some outfield. She is a 5'3" 11 yr old with avg size hands. Is 113/4" too small for a general purpose glove?

For outfield or 1B I would think a 11.75" glove is on the small side for 12U which makes the jump from 11" to 12" ball. Whether or not it is too small probably depends on your DD.

For 3B it might still be perfect if she doesn't have any problem catching the larger ball with it.

I've heard a smaller glove, 12in or thereabouts is best for middle infield since digging it out of the dirt and making a throw need to happen so quickly--don't want to waste time getting it out of a big glove. Not sure where 3rd base falls into that. Guess I'm not much help!

My 12YO DD is a little bit smaller than yours and uses a slightly bigger glove, 12.5.

If your DD is happy with her glove leave her alone, it is a fuzzy science.

When she needs a new glove maybe move to a 12 or 12.5 but if her glove works for her leave her alone.
