We’ve faced this a lot this HS season and what really helps dd in this situation is throwing her changeup a few times to every batter. She can float it in for a strike and then it helps to get swings at her other pitches, even if they go out of the “umpire’s” zone.

If batters are swinging dont throw strikes.
Its not about what the umpire is calling, its more about what the batters are doing.
Beat the batter by not serving lunch and dinner.
Feed them out of the zone appetizers that tease and tempt...
Meatballs should not be on the menu, even if the umpire is only looking for those.
The umpire doesnt beat the batter...
The pitcher and defense does.

Or another way to look at it
It may be a pitcher throwing majority center of plate might please an umpire....
But they wont be calling much of the game because the batters like them too!

yes, and if batters and offensive coaches realize this, i tell them treat one or no strikes like a 3-0 count, and two strikes like a 3-1 count, ie, do not swing unless you LOVE IT (the pitch). practice patience at plate take what the pitcher (and umpire) are giving.
