For me, one of the best things about HS softball is opening up my morning paper to the sports section and seeing a photo like the one in this article:

This is one of my hitting students. She's not only a powerful hitter (double-digit home runs including at least one grand slam this year) but a really nice, considerate kid. I'm so happy that she got this type of publicity.
For me, the other great thing about HS softball is scoreboards. You don't have to pay that close of attention and keep count of everything during the game. For someone like me, who goes out to watch, support, socialize and enjoy the game rather than critique everything, being able to glance at the scoreboard and see a pitch count or a number of outs is really a blessing.
