I just read about receiving on NECC. Her AC, who is the one who talked to her, is supposed to be a "catching specialist," so hopefully he teaches the same thing.

The SC description is actually pretty good, but I think there's some more details in the NECC links. IMO, it makes sense to get familiar w/ that if you're ultimately going to follow the NECC DVD. I've seen many "catching specialists", so I am crossing my fingers that your AC is one of the good ones. If they're not teaching consistent w/ NECC training, I would ask them to explain why they think their way is better. Hopefully you will not have to decide if "You will not catch if you don't do it my way" is a good answer.

One thing she can do right now is to strengthen her legs. At home w/ no gear, she can practice holding her runner's on stance and/or do wall sits while reading, watching TV, texting etc. Think I saw on FB that one of Chaz's YOUNG catchers set a new wall sit PR at 40+ minutes. OOOUUUCH

I was really hoping to get her to NECC Columbus camp but that's during tryouts. Fortunately, she has been following Austin's throwing book since the day it was released and I think that's one of their changes. She's also been working at the gym with a personal trainer and doing A LOT of squats, etc...
I printed out stuff from here and their website for reference. It sounds like he's thinking mostly 1st, some catching and maybe a little 3rd. Our 3rd baseman already is signed to play with a D2 school this fall, so why should she care if it goes more like 3rd, 1st, Catcher, LOL.
