I know it's not softball, but it's family.

Nephew's college has made history and the season has just started. They are ranked #6 in the southern region and #17 in the NCAA nationwide. Record 14-3.

Just to let you know........you never know what will happen in college. He was one of the best pitchers in the state during TB and HS. ( 2009 state champion pitcher with honors ) He is now the starting catcher in college and pitches very little. Pop time this year is 1.7.............he has not had one steal on him yet so far.

Congrats! I believe Buster Posey was a pitcher in high school and TB that didn't play catcher until his sophomore year at FSU, and even as a Junior he still pitched. Apparently there was one game that year that he played all 9 positions in one game, at least that's the folk lore.

It's good to see your nephew taking the catching seriously and excelling in the roll!

Thanks STAR.

He filled in last year at the end of the season ( other catcher had ankle problems ) and has only played catcher maybe 3 times in his life. Long story short, he was hosing them down stealing. So this year coach didn't give him an option, the gig was his. lol

Good thing is he really seems to enjoy it and could care less about pitching now. And like most pitchers will find out, you may be a great HS or TB pitcher............once you get to college youre just average..........because everyone is a good/great pitcher.
