This video is the best I've seen showing internal rotation. The slow motion part around 30 seconds is great. You will see very clearly that Abbott is "flipping her wrist over" as she releases the ball.

Hi Lea.

I watched the section of this video twice. I believe I see the softball contacting the glass on one of the seams of the softball. If I am seeing it correctly, that would pit the total force of the impact into a much smaller area than if it would have contacted the glass on the 'skin' area of the softball.

I am not young, I wear glasses and my vision even with those aint great. But, that's what I am seeing. Since the seams of a softball are very much more raised than that of a basebal AND if the softball did indeed contact the glass on the seams, I would estimate the force per square inch would be double compared to the 'skin' of the softball.
