we always built covenants, a la Proactive Coaching, to outline the positive behaviors we wanted to see out of our players
as they got older, i didn't stress about an occasional miss......we always had things built into the covenant that looked at commitment and what that looked like, but we didn't have hard fast rules about attendance, nor did any girl give us reason to create them
there's always things that came up - drivers ed hours, can't get my shift covered (this especially came up when we had to reschedule due to weather), etc........if we questioned whether a girl was meeting the commitment part of the covenant (didn't happen much), we would have conversations with the player, and play time was effected.......but over the last 4 years, it really only came up once
